This was Sheffield's first year of illuminations (with lights on loan from Cleethorpes). The lights ran from the end of London Road all the way along the Moor and Fargate to High Street down to Haymarket.

Caption reads

The Goodwin Fountain. Above is another view of the wonderful Godwin Fountain in the Town Hall Square.

And where lights end. Below is a scene at Moorfoot, with the decorated traffic island and 50ft. Christmas tree.
