In 1864, The Old Blue Ball, kept by William Cooper, and a good deal damaged in the Sheffield Flood. The stables and other outbuildings were destroyed. 1880-1918, kept by Mrs. Birkenshaw.

At the time of this photograph owned by Hope and Anchor Breweries and occupied by W.H. Haywood. Mrs Haywood has a framed photograph of the inn as a free house. Frontage not greatly changed for many years, apart from more modern windows. Fairly recent side bay extension.
