One boy climbed the chimney and wasandsaved, his mother and a little girl managed to escape from the house but all the rest were lost as the water rose higher and higher until it washed them all away. When I took this view a lot of boys anxious to be photographed went upstairs and with the floor slanting downwards caused them to push each other. They soon got fighting when extra commotion caused the already shaky floor to give way and the boys tumbled into the room below- beyond a few bruises they were not much worse for their fall.
