The original Memorial Shelter was opened in 1932, in which was placed a stainless steelcasket, given by Sir Robert Hadfield, containing the names of 4, 898 Sheffield men who made the great sacrifice. The shelter had to be replaced after World War II and the casket is now in the Mairie of Puisieux/Serre. The photograph was taken during a visit to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme and to re-dedicate the Sheffield City Battalion Monument.
