Shown in the distance is the Memorial Shelter. The original shelter was opened in 1932, in which was placed a stainless steel casket given by Sir Robert Hadfield containing the names of 4,898 Sheffield men who had been killed. The original shelter had to be replaced after World War II and the casket is now in the Mairie of Puisieux/Serre. Mr Bob Chapman was with a group attending a ceremony commemorating the re-dedication of the war memorial dedicated to the men of the Sheffield City Battalion at Serre and the 90th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.
