Image from a series of photographs relating to John Herbert Brown and family.

John Herbert Brown was born in Sheffield c. 1887, the son of John and Sarah Ann Brown.  On the 1921 census he is recorded at 128 Oakbrook Road with his wife Bertha and two children, Eric (1915 - 1988) and Muriel (born c. 1919 - 1990s). John is listed as a branch manager for T.H. Rigby and Co. Ltd., costume and mantle manufacturers.

Inearlier census returns John’s brothers and sisters are recorded as Harold, Annie, George Arthur and Robert Frederick.

During World War One it is believed John served in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, though this has not been confirmed.   He served in the Home Guard during World War II.

It is believed John died in the early 1960s.
