The remains of Trickett’s farmhouse - the engraving represents the ruins of the farmhouse, situated at Malin Bridge, the residence of Mr Trickett. Being situated at the bottom of the valley, and receiving the full power of the inundation, it was, although a substantial stone building, swept entirely away with the exception of the small portion of the wall as shown. The bar, stables and other out offices remain, but the house itself was completely destroyed. It was here that no less than 11 persons were drowned, amongst whom were Mr and Mrs Trickett and four children, the father in law of Mr Trickett, and a young gentleman named Barker, a lodger or visitor.
