In 2021, Little Amal, a 3.5 metre-tall living artwork of a young Syrian refugee child walked across Europe to the UK to focus attention on the urgent needs of young refugees. She arrived in Sheffield on 29 October via barge at the canal basin and went on to Tudor Square and the Peace Gardens where she was greeted by local children. Amal is Arabic for hope. |
