Pictured (first left) is Emily Connelly. She was born on 1 October 1905. During the war she lived at 16 Edward Street, Wombwell, Barnsley. Emily started work at Firth Vickers steelworks in 1942. She operated a pneumatic chisel removing dross from cast steel. She worked there until 1945. She died in Birmingham in 1989.Also pictured (fourth from left) is Lily Roe of Wombwell.Photograph donated as part of the 'Women of Steel' campaign.Sheffield City Archives ref.
