Illustration of dragon, with the inscription King Egbert of Wessex led his army to Dore in the year A.D. 829 against King Eanred of Northumbria who submitted to him and peace was declared.

The 30cwt stone slab was bought by Sheffield City Council at a cost of pound;100. See The Star , 8th July 1968.
