Scene of the terrible catastrophe which happened at Owlerton during the replayed Cup Tie (2nd round) between Wednesday and Wolverhampton Wanderers on February 4th 1914, when a retaining wall at the Penistone Road end collapsed injuring more or less severely 75 people. The game was stopped while the injured were removed but was resumed afterwards.
