With a mixture of fine abrasive material and oil, Mrs. Ann Beech works on the buffing and polishing of pearl handles. Mrs. Beech, aged 75, has worked with the Gillotts for 61 years. Several of the 24 hands employed at the small but modern single-storey factory have been associated with the business al their working lives, and have great skill and knowledge to pass on to the young apprentices.
