Notes:	The road from Sheffield westwards to the High Peak and Manchester was first turnpiked in 1758. Ringinglow was at the junction of the two ways to Buxton (via Fox House) and Chapel (via Sparrowpit). In 1795 an Act of Parliament allowed the Trust to raise tolls and build new toll bars.
