There is a risk that this Norfolk Wheel, known early in the 18th century as Rivelin Bridge Wheel, may be confused with the site immediately down-stream, which has also been known by the same name. The rental for 1709 shows Webster and Bromley, and the first known lease, of 1717, names Jeremy Bromley and William Spooner of Clough Field, Nether Hallam, also a cutler, in the south end. By 1901 the forge had been converted to a wire-mill, operated by George Hallam and Co. who had installed an oil engine by 1907.A lease of 1916 shows the waterwheel still capable of use.
