Title:Letter received by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield from Sheffield men aboard the French Ship Mistral, following the air raids on Sheffield (Sheffield Blitz)
Location:Sheffield
Date:1940/12
Date Period:1940-1959
Notes:

Lord Mayor, City of Sheffield.

Sir,

As representatives of Sheffield in the above destroyer [French Ship Mistral], it was with great concern that we read of our home town being subject to what our fore terms a successful operation but we know Sheffield hearts are as strong as Sheffield steel, and will not weaken even under the greatest strain, but we will endure all and we of the Royal Navy say to you 'the men behind the guns' keep it up and we shall see that your efforts are not to be in vain. Sheffield, our home, we are proud of you.

Yours sincerely,

Colin Inman, Arnold Booker and Leslie Shaw.
