Title:Letter received by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield from Buckingham Palace following the air raids on Sheffield (Sheffield Blitz)
Location:Sheffield
Date:1940/12/23
Date Period:1940-1959
Notes:

Dear Lord Mayor,

The King has been distressed to learn of the damage done to Sheffield by the enemy's attacks on the civil population, and desires me to express his sincere sympathy with all who have suffered as a result of these raids.

It is His Majesty's hope that he may be able to pay a visit to your city before too long, and in the meantime he would be glad to know how matters are progressing.
