Title:A pair of the mixed-traffic Crab class on Grimesthorpe shed.
Location:Sheffield
Date:1961/07
Date Period:1960-1979
Notes:

These were a common sight during this period, these engines having the necessary traction to move the heavy loads for which they were designed.

Information from J Thickitt:

View north-westwards from Grimesthorpe shed-yard towards the Midland Main Line. The background signal box was the nearest to the camera of the two boxes shown in s15056.

Reminiscences by a former Grimesthorpe engine driver who was familiar with this class considered the Crab class to be good all round engines .
