Notes:

The firm was established by a Thomas Sansom in 1796 but traded without a company name until an assay mark was given in 1808 by which time the Howsons had taken control of the company. In 1978 the name was bought by Ben J Dix in London and proceeded to manufacture cutlery with the Howson brothers mark, although the Sheffield firm closed in that year.
