1920-1939

Runners-up to Brown's in the Raleigh Knock-Out competition 1919-1920: After a goaless draw on Brightside Foundry's ground, a replay was arranged for the evening of April 20th at Roe Lane. After a keen tussle the game again ended in a draw - two goals each. Half an hour's extra time was then played, and Brown's got a goal and won the competition. The boys have finished the season in the same spirit as they begain it. They have shown splendid sportsmanship, and no fines have been imposed on Firth's boys for breaches of rules. From The Bombshell: a monthly journal devoted to the interests of the employees of Thomas Firth and Sons, Ltd., Norfolk Works, Sheffield. Vol. 4 May 1920 (page 200) (Local Studies Library 052. 74 S)
