Sheffield
1900-1919

Pictured Top (l.to r.) Private John Willis (King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry) and J. W. Jubb C.E.R.A. (HMS Saint George).

Bottom (l.to r.) Cyril Dexter (King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry), who volunteered for the Marines, took part in siege of Antwerp, and escaped in civilian clothes, Gunner Joseph Crapper (HMS Queen Mary) and Stoker J. Bradbury (Naval Brigade).

Inscription at top of image reads Come hurtling, from the air or 'neath the wave, Darting, machines of death! come shot and shell!- Thy battle-signal flies from keel to keel. Nerving each breast for victory or the grave, Lest an insulting foe should toll our knell, And wrench the trident from our grasp of steel. A.G.M.
