Plaque reads

Devonshire Green

This open space is dedicated to the memory of those citizens of Sheffield who died on the nights of the 12th, 13th and 15th of December 1940 during aerial bombardment of the City in the Second World War, 1939-45.

This stand of five trees was planted by The Lord Mayor of Sheffield (Councillor W. Owen J.P.) on the 14th December 1980 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the raids.
