Built 1668 as a Farmhouse on Sharrow Moor, it later became a Charity School for boys and girls, one of the earliest Sheffield schools. In 1769 an extension was added by then owner Rev Thomas Savage, who lived at Cherry Tree Hill. Upon his death, it was designated through his will, that Sharrow Moor School be operated there by his trustees for the local children. The last Headmaster & Mistress were Arthur & Ada Haslam.

It was demolished in 1904 to make way for a large-scale housing development. The gated end was on Bagshot Street, the building occupied land where 2,4 & 6 Wayland Road now stand.
