Sheffield Newspapers article reads: For Savings - a certificateA special certificate of merit signed personally by Lord Mackintosh of Halifax - chairman of the National Savings Committee - was presented today at the Meadowhall works [Trubrite Steel Works] canteen of Arthur Lee and Co. Ltd., Sheffield.The certificate was gained by the firm for recruiting 121 new savers during the recent campaign in Sheffield. Certificate for the highest number of new savers in industry has been won by English Steel Corporation Ltd. Arthur Lee and Co. Ltd. being one of the two runners up. Today's presentation was made by Mr Luther E. Milner, chairman of Sheffield Savings Committee. Receiving the certificate is Mr John E. Askwith, personnel manager and secretary of the firm's savings group. Also in the picture are Mr Frank Brown (assistant secretary), Mr Frederick Brown (company secretary and director) [and] Mr C. Stacey, Sheffield Assistant Savings commissioner. |
