His Majesty King George V fired this shell at East Hecla Works, Sheffield on September 29th, 1915. It struck with a velocity of 1909 F.S. and perforated undamaged a hard-faced steel armour-plate 4inches in thickness.

Colonel The Tt. Hon. Lord Stamfordham; Commander Sir Charles Cust; Major Seymour and Captain P. D. Thomas (in attendance upon His Majesty). Also Colonel H. Hughes; Commander H. G. Jackson; Major J.Hall-Dalwood; Sir Robert Hadfield (Chairman of Hadfields Ltd.); A. M. Jack (Managing Director); Lord Claud Hamilton; P. B. Brown; Major A. B. H. Clerke; H. Cooper; I. B. Milne; J. P. Crosbie; W. B. Pickering and J. T. Middleham (Directors).
