Originally opened as The Electra Palace on 11th February 1911. Closed 28 July 1945 and reopened as News Theatre in September. Became Classic Cinema on 15 January 1962. Closed 24 November 1982 with Rocky 3.

Badly damaged by fire on 24 November 1984 and later demolished.
