Description on reverse of card reads

T[homas] Johnson (Sheffield United). Thomas Johnson is the third member of his family to be associated with Sheffield United. His father being in the cup winning teams of 1899 and 1902 and his elder brother Harry being centre forward of the side that captured the trophy in 1925. As a boy Tom played with Ecclesfield United but it was always intended that he should go to Sheffield United, and he signed on for them in 1928. Since commanding the position of centre half he has been a strong pillar in the defence and he helped his club reach the Cup Final of 1936 (when they were beaten by the Arsenal) and to win promotion to the First Division in season 1938/39.
