About 1,200 moulders went on strike on 24th Feb 1912 in a dispute over where moulders rsquo; work began and core-maker rsquo;s ended. The dispute began at Cammell Laird and Co when work the moulders considered they ought to do was given out to coremakers. The work was subsequently sent to Manchester, and it was said that there it had been given to moulders. The strike ended on 17th April, some seven weeks later, when the strikers agreed to a conference of local employers for the settlement of the points in dispute, along with the development of a demarcation board. A further strike over similar issue started in July 1912 when moulders at Messrs Thomas Firth and Sons walked out. The matter was resolved within a week.
