Original caption: A plaque unveiled outside the Town Hall to honour Uriah Rennie resonated strongly across the city. Uriah is being recognised posthumously for his pioneering career as the first Black referee in the Premier League, becoming one of the most respected officials in English football and a trailblazer within the sport. He also served Sheffield as a magistrate and briefly as Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University.
