View west along School Road from the junction with Griffiths Road. Named after its designer, Sir Edwin Airey (1878-1955), a Civil Engineer and builder, Airey houses were seen as an economical and quickly built solution to help meet post-war housing demand. The design used a reinforced concrete frame covered with shiplap precast concrete cladding.
