William Elles is granted a seperate mark, 2nd October 1554. Roundels show (right) John Wesley preaching in Paradise Square, 15th July 1779 and (left) Bishop Leonard Hedley place the cross in the Chapel of St. George, 21st July 1938.

The window was introduced to commemorate the foundation of the Cutlers Company in 1624. William Elles is the first cutler known to have a private mark, awrded 2nd October 1554.
