Whiteley Wood Open Air School (also known as Whiteley Wood Open Air Recovery School) was established in 1909 by Sheffield City Council for children aged 10 and over who suffered from anaemia, tuberculosis and general 'debility'. It originally occupied the building of the closed Whiteley Wood School before moving to facilities on Cottage Lane. The school closed in 1980.
