Founded in 1706, 10 boys were taught in a room in Shrewsbury Hospital. Four yeas later a school was built by public subscription and 1825 a larger school was erected on the same site in East Parade. 1911 the School transferred to new buildings on Psalter Lane and formally opened by the Countess Fitzwilliam. The accommodation is for 100 fatherless or orphaned boys who are educated, maintained & clothed.
