Notes:

The building was originally the Sheffield Blind Institute, built 1905 and designed by Edmund Winder, hence the letters SBI on the carved details at the parapet. Built of red brick with stone dressings, the Institute had workshops for the making of brushes, mats and baskets, with meeting rooms on the upper floors and a shop on the ground floor.
